Built on Rock

Built on Rock
Truth Unveiled with Ralph
Built on Rock

Key Takeaways

  • The closing story of the Sermon on the Mount reveals that both builders faced the exact same storm, but the ultimate survival of their houses depended entirely on what was buried underneath.
  • Building your life on the rock is not about earning your salvation through hard work, but rather discovering a secure, unshakeable foundation that is already provided as a gift.
  • The dangerous trap of shifting sand is simply agreement without action, where simply hearing biblical truths without applying them leaves you spiritually exposed.
  • Wisdom dictates that the absolute best time to dig down to the solid rock is while the weather is still dry, long before the unexpected storms of life arrive.
  • Even if your house has already fallen and you are currently sitting in the rubble, the solid rock remains available to you as a place of refuge and fresh starts.

Picture two houses on the same street. Same builder, same shutters, same little light by the front door. On a sunny afternoon in June, you couldn’t tell them apart. Then a storm comes, and in the morning one house is still standing and the other is in the yard.

In this episode, I walk through the closing story of the Sermon on the Mount and ask what’s underneath your life. Both builders heard the same words and got the same storm. The only difference was the doing, and it was buried where nobody could see it.

I talk about why the rock is a gift you dig down to and not something you earn, what sand really looks like (agreement without action), and why the best time to dig is while it’s still dry. I share what I’ve seen across the desk in my practice as a licensed accountant, and I speak directly to anyone whose house has already fallen. The rock is still there.

You’ll walk away with a few practical things to do this week, a few questions to answer for yourself, and a prayer for the one standing in the storm right now.
